British director Danny Boyle takes another intriguing career turn with this heartfelt, rags to riches yarn about street kid Jamal (Dev Patel). The film cuts between Jamal’s appearance on ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire’ and his tough, brutal childhood in the slums of Mumbai, and delivers a gritty, yet ultimately upbeat, fairytale about the extremes of modern India. Winner of 8 Oscars.
